Banners (Call or see Kelly Lehman for more information about this 376-2971)

Banner size must be: 6 foot by 4 foot (as close as possible to this size)

Banner materials can be any materials you can find to create a unique and exciting banner. You can silk screen, paint, etc. on any materials appropriate. Your imagination is your only restriction.

Banners must be made by someone on the team if you wish it to be included in the judging. (In other words not a purchased banner.) The parents of the team are encouraged to help with the banner. Encourage participation from the team players, but this is not mandatory for judging.

The banner must include "Region 294" somewhere on the banner. It should include the team name and divsion classification, i.e.; U5 Red Dragons or Excaliber U19.

If you include the players names, which is nice for them to see, just use a first name please or first initial and last name.

Be sure to include coach and assistant coaches names on the banner and your sponsor's name.

Hopefully this information will be helpful to coaches and team parents to guide you on your way to creating a banner that will be fun and functional. Banner parade will be the official opening day (please check with your coach for this date each year), before games, arrive by 7:00 a.m. (Coaches make sure you have parents to help with setting up goals while you are getting the team set for the parade march.)

Many supplies for banners can be purchased from Walmart Stores, Joann's Fabrics (in Bakersfield), and Beverly's in Bakersfield on F Street. (You might mention at Beverly's that you are purchasing supplies for AYSO Soccer Banners, they have given us a discount in the past.)

Iron on letters are very convenient for adding required information such as the region number and sponsor names.

Sticky backed felt can be purchased and cut into a variety of shapes to be added to the banner.

Also sticky figures are available at Beverly's as an easy way to add to your banner

A great way to secure your banner is to make a frame from PVC and add a "T" at the bottom of the banner for "feet" made from PVC. Then by drilling through the PVC you can create holes to insert stakes to fasten the banner in place during games. this is very convenient in our windy area.
